CORONA UPDATE – SPEEDQB COMPETITION WEEKEND OF 2-3 MAY ALSO POSTPONED

As the developments regarding the Corona outbreak progress, it has now become clear that the Dutch government has banned ‘gatherings’ of any kind until June 1st. This means that, to our great regret, we will have to reschedule the SpeedQB tournament dates yet again. Because 2 & 3 May have now also become an impossibility, the dates in November as announced in our previous rescheduling message (14 & 15 November) will now be used for this missed weekend.

This also means that we have to introduce another weekend in order to play the Season-closing championships, which will be 12 & 13 December 2020. Again, we sincerely hope this date will be available in all agendas, considering the holiday season. In our next Breakout broadcast, next Friday at 19:00 CET, we will be able to answer any questions you may have. Please keep your eye on our social channels tomorrow to find the links to the livestream.

SPEEDQB COMPETITION WEEKEND POSTPONED – CORONA UPDATE
March 12, 2020 – 17:30 CET

This afternoon, the Dutch government announced the conclusions of a crisis meeting with the Dutch National Institute for Health and Environment (RIVM) in a press conference. In the whole of The Netherlands, extensive measures will be taken immediately to contain the Corona virus outbreak (summary of announced measures found here (in Dutch)). For us, this has very unfortunate consequences, as one of the announced measures is that events with more than 100 attendees are prohibited until at least March 31. This gives us no other choice than to postpone the upcoming SpeedQB Competition during the weekend of 21 & 22 March.

It goes without saying that this announcement – even though we took this scenario into account – comes as a huge disappointment to us.We have concluded that the upcoming competition dates will need to be postponed to the weekend of 17 & 18 October, the dates originally planned for the Season-closing EU Championships. The Championship weekend will now take place in the weekend of 14 & 15 November, effectively pushing the competition back, leaving the original dates intact. So the next competition weekend will now be the weekend of 2 & 3 May.

We sincerely hope this causes none of you too much inconvenience and that everyone will be able to attend the Championship weekend in November.
